Join fellow Jewish Dallas young adults on a meaningful volunteer experience in Israel through a partnership between the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas and Birthright Israel. This unique opportunity allows you to support communities impacted by recent events, take part in hands-on service projects, and see firsthand how our community’s support is making a difference.

Along the way, you’ll build connections with other adults from across Jewish Dallas, experience Israel in a deeper way, and be part of something bigger than yourself.

Participation FAQs

Who is eligible to participate?

Participants must:

Be Jewish

Be between the ages of 21–40

Live in the greater DFW region

Have a valid passport

Be able to participate in a program conducted in English

Additional eligibility requirements are determined by Birthright Israel.

What is the Dallas Volunteer Mission to Israel?

The Dallas Volunteer Mission to Israel is a unique opportunity for Jewish young adults to spend eight days volunteering, connecting, and exploring in Israel alongside fellow participants from the Greater Dallas community. Participants will support recovery and rebuilding efforts while deepening their connection to Israel, to one another, and to the Dallas Jewish community.

Do I need prior Israel travel experience to participate?

No. Whether this is your first time in Israel or your tenth, the program is designed to be meaningful and impactful. Participants with a wide range of Israel experience are welcome.

I've participated in a Birthright, Masa, or Onward program before. Can I still join?

In most cases, yes. Previous participation in Birthright Israel, Masa, or Onward programs does not automatically disqualify you. Eligibility is ultimately determined through the Birthright Israel registration process.

What makes this different from a traditional Israel trip?

This is not a sightseeing tour. While there will be opportunities to explore Israel, the primary purpose of the experience is service, connection, and impact. Participants will spend their days volunteering, engaging with local communities, learning about Israel’s current reality, and building relationships with fellow travelers who share a commitment to making a difference.

Will I know anyone on the trip?

Some participants may join with friends, while others may come on their own. Either way, you’ll be traveling, volunteering, and experiencing Israel as part of a close-knit Dallas cohort. Many participants find that the shared experience creates meaningful friendships and connections long after the trip ends.

I'm not currently involved with Federation programs. Can I still participate?

Absolutely. You do not need to be actively involved with the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas to apply. Whether you’ve attended Federation events for years or are looking for your first meaningful connection to the community, this trip is designed to bring people together through a shared experience in Israel.

I want to help, but I'm not sure if volunteering is for me. Should I still apply?

Yes. You do not need specialized skills or prior volunteer experience to make a meaningful contribution. The program is designed to match participants with projects that address current community needs, and support is provided throughout the experience. What matters most is a willingness to show up, pitch in, and be part of something larger than yourself.

I'm passionate about Israel, but I'm not sure I'm ready for a volunteer trip. Is this program still right for me?

This experience is designed for people who want to engage with Israel in a deeper and more meaningful way. While volunteering is a central component of the trip, participants will also have opportunities to learn, connect with Israelis and fellow travelers, explore the country, and reflect on the role Israel plays in their own Jewish journey. You do not need to have all the answers or know exactly what to expect. You simply need to be open to the experience.

Itinerary FAQs

What kind of volunteer work will we be doing?

Volunteer projects are based on current community needs and may include supporting farmers, assisting with rebuilding efforts, helping impacted communities, or providing logistical support. Specific projects may vary throughout the trip.

How much volunteer work is involved?

Participants should expect approximately 4–6 hours of volunteering per day, with additional opportunities for educational experiences, community connections, and exploration.

Is this only a volunteer trip?

No. While volunteering is at the heart of the experience, participants will also have opportunities to learn, connect with Israeli peers, visit affected communities, and enjoy free time to explore Israel.

Will there be opportunities to meet Israelis?

Yes. In addition to volunteering, participants will engage with Israeli peers and local communities, creating opportunities for meaningful conversations and shared experiences.

How physically demanding is the program?

Volunteer projects vary, but participants should expect an active experience that may involve standing, walking, lifting, or working outdoors. Specific assignments are based on community needs and participant abilities.

Registration & Logistics FAQs

What is the cost of the program?

Participants who travel on the optional group flight pay a $950 program and flight fee. Participants who arrange their own flights pay a $250 program fee. Additional fees and policies are outlined during registration.

What accommodations are provided?

Program accommodations are included. Participants are generally housed in shared rooms with three travelers per room. Optional room upgrades to double or single occupancies are available for an additional fee.

Do I have to fly with the group?

No. Participants may choose between traveling on the optional group flight from Dallas or arranging their own airfare. Those choosing to arrange their own travel must arrive and depart within the program guidelines.

Can I stay in Israel before or after the program?

Participants may be able to extend their stay in Israel, depending on their travel arrangements and Birthright Israel policies. Details will be discussed during the registration process.

Is the trip safe?

Participant safety is the highest priority. The program includes on-the-ground staff support, accommodations equipped with safe rooms, group travel during organized programming, and ongoing monitoring of the security situation.

When is the registration deadline?

The registration deadline is October 16, 2026. Space is limited, so we encourage you to register as soon as possible to secure your spot!

What happens after I register?

After submitting your registration, you will receive follow-up communication regarding your application, next steps, interviews (if applicable), travel planning, and a pre-trip orientation.
