Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas and Community Security Service Announce Partnership to Expand Volunteer Security Training Across North Texas

Collaboration will expand community-based volunteer training, coordination and information sharing

DALLAS — The Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas (JFGD) and Community Security Service (CSS) today announced a partnership to strengthen security for the Jewish community across Dallas-Fort Worth and North Texas. Through this partnership, CSS will work with JFGD to accelerate the delivery of volunteer security training programs, supplementing JFGD’s established security resources already active in the region.

The partnership comes as anti-Jewish hate crimes remain near record levels. According to FBI data, 1,528 anti-Jewish hate crime incidents were reported in 2025, accounting for nearly two-thirds of all reported religion-based hate crimes nationwide. The 2022 antisemitic terrorist attack in the Dallas suburb Colleyville intensified efforts by JFGD and partners like CSS to protect Jewish organizations and events. Against that backdrop, JFGD and CSS will expand coordinated, community-based training  programs.

To kick off the partnership, CSS delivered special training this week for ushers, greeters, and volunteer security guards from different synagogues to help their communities stay safe during the High Holidays. Organized in partnership with JFGD, this is one of many steps both organizations are taking to expand security for community members attending services.

JFGD’s Community Security Department already provides training, emergency communications, site assessments and grant support across the region. During 2024-25, the department trained approximately 2,000 community members, completed security assessments for 85 organizations and helped secure more than $3 million for security improvements.

CSS volunteers will be trained in professional-grade security best practices as well as to report relevant information that can be shared with analysts already embedded with JFGD, supporting the Federation’s established intelligence program and relationships with law enforcement.

The North Texas partnership is the latest example of CSS’s national expansion. In 2025 alone, more than 20,000 community members completed CSS training and 6,100 volunteers stood shift to protect 440 synagogues and nearly 100 Jewish events nationwide. CSS volunteer leaders collectively completed more than 300,000 guard hours.
