The Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas (JFGD) was awarded the Jewish Federations of North America’s (JFNA) 2024 Tepper Foundation Security Grant, enabling JFGD to provide security site assessments, trainings, and security enhancements for nine individual early childcare centers, which educate over 1,500 children collectively.
Jewish Early Childcare Centers (ECC’s) receiving support from the grant included the Gan Menachem Preschool, Torah Day School, Levine Academy, Goldberg Early Childhood Center, Gan Gani Preschool, Anshai Torah Preschool, Temple Emanu-El, Akiba Yavneh Academy, and Gan Chana Preschool. Aimed at addressing urgent and increased security needs affecting others, the Tepper Grant also supports collective efforts in building and strengthening essential interfaith relationships across communities.
The security investment provided expertise to local non-Jewish faith-based institutions to improve their abilities to secure their own communities and address their particular needs. The Cathedral of Hope United Church of Christ, St. Augustine Catholic Church, and Cristo Rey Dallas Prep College were provided with security site assessments from the Jewish Federation’s Security team to enhance their security layers.
“Through the Tepper Grant and the Jewish Federation’s assistance, the security and safety of the employees, parishioners, families, and students…has risen beyond everyone’s expectations,” Manny Sanchez, the Director of Security and Emergency Management at Catholic Dioceses of Dallas reflected.
“The added security has been reassuring for our families, students, and staff…the additive police presence serves as a deterrent on our campus, and we have tremendous appreciation for this additional layer of security,” said an administrator at Levine Academy.
The Jewish Federation looks forward to continuing to ensure a safe and secure Dallas for all through partnering with JFNA and strengthening relations with local non-Jewish communities in the greater Dallas area.
The Tepper Foundation’s security grant is funded by the foundation’s national Emergency Security Fund, and the funds were allocated during the 2024 fiscal year.
