The current government shutdown is impacting federal employees, medical benefits, and food assistance programs like SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children), leaving more families vulnerable.
We know there are families in our community who are feeling these effects. The Federation is partnering with Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas to help. Below are resources for those who may need assistance, and for those who would like to offer their support:

How You Can Help
If you have members of your community asking how they can support others during this time, please let them know about the following opportunities to help:
- Donate Items to the Food Drive: Either drop-off non-perishable, non-expired foods at JFS or at the JCC Main Lobby Entrance, Sports and Fitness Entrance, and Goldberg Early Childhood Center Entrance.
- Host Your Own Food Drive at your Congregation or Workplace: Our biggest needs right now are non-perishable food and holiday gifts. We have parameters for what we can accept—please click here to learn more.
- Sign up for a Volunteer Shift: With an increased demand for services, hands on support from volunteers is even more important to ensuring families in need are receiving support. You can learn about available opportunities and sign up to volunteer by visiting jfsdallas.org/volunteer
- Make a Monetary Gift: Donations to the JFS Response Fund enable us to meet urgent needs during times like these. JFS Dallas is accessing these dollars now to help families impacted by the shutdown and to purchase additional food to stock the pantry. Every dollar helps us provide food, counseling, and stability for families across our community year-round. Gifts can be made by mailing a check to 5402 Arapaho Road, Dallas, TX 75248, or online at jfsdallas.org/donatenow
