FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas is proud to announce the appointment of Robert French as its new Chief Executive Officer. French brings more than two decades of leadership experience in Jewish communal life, philanthropy, and synagogue management, and will officially assume the role on September 18, 2025.
French most recently served as CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans (2023–2025), where he led the community’s unified response to the October 7 attacks and their aftermath. Under his leadership, the Federation saw its first campaign increase since 2005, expanded sponsorship support, and launched innovative engagement strategies that deepened the Federation’s relevance and reach.
Prior to his time in New Orleans, French served as Executive Director of the Jewish Federation and Jewish Community Foundation of El Paso, Texas. His earlier career includes more than 20 years in synagogue leadership, notably as Executive Director of Temple Israel of the City of New York, where he revitalized the historic Upper East Side congregation and developed large-scale programs that reconnected thousands of young Jewish professionals with Jewish life.
“We are thrilled to welcome Robert to Dallas,” said Sherry Goldberg, Board Chair of the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas. “His visionary leadership, deep commitment to Jewish values, and proven track record of strengthening communities make him the ideal person to guide our Federation into its next chapter.”
Born and raised in London, French is a graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University, California State University Northridge, and California Coast University.
“I am honored to join the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas and excited to work alongside this vibrant community,” said Robert French. “Together, we will build on the Federation’s strong foundation to create meaningful impact, deepen engagement, and strengthen Jewish life in Dallas, in Israel, and around the world.”
Rabbi Mordechai Harris, who served as Interim CEO from January 2025-September 2025, and will return to his role as Chief Impact Officer and Rabbi in Residence for the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, shared the following. “Our Federation staff is excited for Robert to begin. He brings a wealth of experience and a heart for Jewish community. I look forward to partnering with him as we continue to grow our impact and serve the Dallas Jewish community with purpose and passion.”
French also serves on the board of Connect Israel and previously co-chaired New York’s StandWithUs Board for nine years, fostering entrepreneurial partnerships between Israel and the U.S. His work is driven by a belief in authentic relationships, a passion for strengthening Jewish life, and a vision for building a vibrant Jewish future.
