As the new school year begins, the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas extends a warm and heartfelt welcome to all students, parents, and educators. This season of new beginnings is filled with excitement, growth, and opportunity for our young learners. At the same time, we recognize the growing concerns around rising antisemitism in K-12 schools and on college campuses. Please know you are not alone. Our team at the Jewish Federation, alongside our dedicated community partners, are here to support you every step of the way. This post provides information and resources to support Jewish families in K-12 schools and on college campuses. |

🛡️ Standing Strong Against Antisemitism |
Earlier this year, we advocated for the passage of Senate Bill 326 in the Texas State Legislature, which requires public schools and universities to consider the IHRA definition of antisemitism when evaluating student conduct. This legislation is a significant step forward in recognizing and addressing the various forms of antisemitism that can manifest in educational settings. The Jewish Federation is actively working on initiatives and partnerships with schools and community organizations to address antisemitism in educational spaces and provide the education and resources needed to combat antisemitism. |
📣 Know Your Rights & Report Incidents |
It’s vital that incidents of antisemitism are reported. Data collection helps to identify trends and ensure we have the facts and details necessary to support our advocacy. Even if you are not sure what you’ve experienced is antisemitic, we encourage you to report incidents to the Anti-Defamation League here: |
If a college student experiences or witnesses an incident on campus, encourage them to report it to their university and via ReportCampusHate.org. |
Although incidents reported through this link may be shared with relevant partners based upon the details of the individual report, this reporting mechanism should not be used as a substitute for reporting to your school or local law enforcement, if needed. In an emergency, call 911. Each school district also has its own reporting process—we encourage you to familiarize yourself with your school’s or district’s policies, procedures and incident reporting mechanisms. See below for important information from some local school districts. Additionally, look at your school calendar to identify any potential conflicts with Jewish holidays or observances. This year Rosh Hashanah begins Monday evening, September 22nd, and Yom Kippur begins Wednesday evening, October 1st. We recommend that you communicate as early as possible with your child’s teacher about religious holidays and how your family’s observances of these holidays might affect your child in the classroom. This calendar of Jewish holidays, which includes practical tips for educators of ways they can be supportive of Jewish students, may be helpful in your outreach. |
