The University of Dallas is hosting Rabbi Mark Gottlieb, chief education officer of Tikvah and founding dean of the Tikvah Scholars Program, for the 2026 McDermott Lecture Series on February 25-26. This two-day public event will explore how classical education can preserve and renew Western civilization, with particular focus on lessons from Jewish educational tradition.

Wednesday, February 25 – Two panel discussions at SB Hall Multipurpose Room, 2925 Gorman Dr., Irving, TX 75062:
1:30-3:00 p.m.: Cultural and Political Challenges (featuring Rabbi Gottlieb and Tikvah
President Eric Cohen)
3:30-5:30 p.m.: The Promise of Classical Education (featuring Rabbi Mitch Rocklin,
academic director of the Lobel Center for Jewish Classical Education)
Thursday, February 26 – Keynote Lecture at 7:00 p.m.:
Rabbi Gottlieb will deliver “Saving Western Civilization, One Student at a Time: Some Lessons from Jewish and Catholic Educational Leaders,” followed by a reception.
Rabbi Gottlieb’s extensive experience leading four different Jewish schools and his work at Tikvah brings valuable insights into cultivating wisdom and character in the next generation.
