SUMMARY:CBT Junior Congregation
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of Junior Congregation is to give students a chance to participate in a real\, child-centered prayer program during which they learn not only how to pray\, but also the concepts and meanings that make prayer so central to the Jewish heritage. \nOur students practice their chanting skills\, learning prayers that are taught in their regular Hebrew classes. Not only are students able to practice their chanting skills\, but they also experience the practical value of their classroom studies. \nStudents feel that the service belongs to them and is shaped by their participation. When students lead a service\, they become more invested in its success. \nJunior Congregation open to all school-aged youth and we invite all caregivers and trusted adults to attend alongside their children. \nIf an adult or teen is interested in leading Junior Congregation\, please reach out to us at ritual@congregationbethtorah.org.

SUMMARY:Israel Now Forum presents Dr. David Patterson
DESCRIPTION:The antisemitism expressed in Islamic Jihadism is a departure from much of traditional Muslim opposition to Jews. In this webinar\, Dr. Patterson will discuss what makes Islam so susceptible to Jihadist exterminationist Jew hatred. He will discuss where this antisemitism comes from and why Jews are specifically a problem in Islam. \nDr. Patterson has lectured at universities on six continents and throughout the United States. Patterson received multiple awards both national and international for his writing. He has published more than 40 books and more than 250 articles\, essays\, and book chapters on antisemitism\, the Holocaust\, and Jewish studies. He is a Research Fellow for the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy (ISGAP).

SUMMARY:Nate and Ann Levine Endowed Lecture in Jewish Studies
DESCRIPTION:The New York Times columnist and Pulitzer Prize winner Bret Stephens will speak at SMU on “Why You Should Want Israel to Win.” Join us for a powerful and thought-provoking evening as he makes the case for why you should want Israel to defeat Hamas — not just for its own sake\, but in the interests of a lasting peace. \nIn an era of misinformation\, Stephens challenges us to confront uncomfortable truths and ask the deeper questions: \nWhat happens if Hamas’s strategy of mass murder on Oct. 7 is vindicated? Will there ever be a Palestinian state if Hamas remains in power? If Israel were to be defeated — or disappeared — would Palestinians\, or the rest of the region\, benefit? Is it in America’s interests if Israel is isolated or weakened? \nBring your most challenging questions as the mic will be open to those who engage respectfully.
