The Human Rights Initiative (HRI) of North Texas provides legal and support services to refugees and immigrants who have suffered human rights abuses. Bill Holston, HRI’s current Executive Director, has a long history assisting those seeking religious and political asylum, including providing volunteer work as an attorney since HRI’s founding.

Betsy Healy co-founded the Human Rights Initiative in 1999, and she served as the Executive Director until 2005. The HRI’s mission is to work with refugees and immigrants by offering services that help survivors out of traumatic situations.

The Upstander Speaker Series event will take place at the Communities Foundation of Texas on Thursday, March 10. The VIP Reception begins at 5:30 p.m. and the talk begins at 6:30 p.m.
