Each year, the Shearith Israel community rejoices as we welcome our newest and youngest members with a special ceremony called Tiny Treasures. First, the Family Center community gathers at 11:00 a.m. for Shababa, a thirty-minute, inter-generational Shabbat experience of music, story, and joy. Then, we’ll join the rest of the congregation in the Beck Family Sanctuary as each child is called to the Bimah for blessings of health, peace, and love. Family, friends, and congregants are invited to celebrate this joyous occasion and are invited to stay for a community-wide kiddush lunch. Of course, there is no charge to join us for lunch, but please RSVP so we know how many celebrants we are expecting. This year is even more special, as we’ll be hosting the first ever regional Shababa summit; educators and leaders from all over the country will join us for a weekend of unlocking wonder with the inventor of the Shababa Approach, Karina Zilberman.
As always, you are invited and encouraged to take part in our Family Center events. I would love to share experiences with you like Shababa, Havdalah, Playgroup, and Shabbat b’Yachad. Our Playgroup meets on Friday mornings 10:30-12:00 and is perfect for Tiny Treasures and parents. If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Katz at skatz@shearith.org or 214-939-7325.
