Bnai Zion's Dessert Reception benefiting Ahava, Village for Children and Youth, Bnai Zion's residence for Abused and Neglected Children honoring Lauren and Dr. Steven Davidoff, Megan and Brian Hodges, Naomi and Rabbi Jeff Schrager, and Kim and Rob Velevis will be held at Shearith Israel, Kaplan Auditorium.
Please mark your calendar for this event at which 100% of money raised will go to Ahava in Kiryat Bialik, near Haifa, where these youths live, to help them. Bnai Zion built an Emergency Center since some of the children are so badly damaged they have to stay there before the can go into the apartments of Ahava. Ahava is comprised of 15 apartments and these children, who have been removed from their homes by government order, live in a family situation with parents and 3 other rooms housing "brothers and sisters." Bnai Zion helps improve the lives of these children by our contributions to buy computers, clothes, emergency supplies, etc.
Ahava houses children from 6-18, however after a tragedy with one of the youth after finishing his IDF training, apartments were built. The 18+ project allows these young adults to come back "home" until they are 26 during which time they need to study a trade, go to university, start working and at the same time become big brothers and sisters to the inhabitants of Ahava. We cannot raise this money without your help!
The project we are focusing on is building SAFE HOUSES for each apartment. The government ordered Ahava to build one of these rooms for each apartment. The Safe Rooms will have double reinforced concrete walls, reinforced steel doors, windows sealed to prevent chemicals coming into the room, special air filtration systems so gas or any other toxins are prevented from entering and steel bars on the windows. This needs to be completed by the end of 2015. How can one put a price on the life of a child? The reservations are only $40 so we look forward to seeing you and appreciate your kindness.
