Dr. Kenneth Waltzer, Professor Emeritus of History, Michigan State University and former director of the MSU Jewish Studies Program, will evaluate the challenge the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement poses to academic freedom and free speech and to the a truth-based intellectual climate on campus. In its efforts to demonize and delegitimize Israel, the BDS movement also causes significant problems for Jewish students and supporters of Israel on campus. Dr. Waltzer currently serves as executive director of the Academic Engagement Network, a national organization of faculty and staff committed to opposing the BDS movement, helping preserve academic freedom and freedom of expression, and countering antisemtism on campus.
