Operation Protective Edge

Updated July 23, 2014 11:09 am EDT

As of today, more than 2,000 rockets have been fired at Israel.  Hopes of a ceasefire continue to be dashed--and Israelis continue to weather the attacks. And so our work also continues.

This past Sunday, the Jewish Federations of North America (the national Federation organization) Emergency Response Allocations Committee for Operation Protective Edge met for the second time, and allocated an additional $3.5 million in support of critical services over and above the nearly $5 million it had authorized a week earlier.

This brings the total Federation emergency assistance to our partner agencies on the ground in Israel, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), to defray the costs of intensified IMMEDIATE burdens on trauma, senior, special needs and other programs to $8.5 million.

While the rockets continue to attack, the need is still great. You can help.
